National Paediatric Research Translation Initiative
The National Paediatric Research Translation Initiative (N-PARTI) is an Australia-wide group of researchers, clinicians, and consumers that aims to improve the health of Australian children.
Work within a national team of researchers to benefit the health of Australian children. The project will use implementation research to increase the use of evidence-based guidelines in paediatric specialist and primary care.

The project is led by Professor Jeffrey Braithwaite at the Australian Institute of Health Innovation, and involves collaborators from:
- Perth Children’s Hospital
- Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service
- Sydney Children’s Hospital
- the University of New South Wales.
Other collaborators, including Primary Healthcare Networks, will join during implementation.
N-PARTI will focus on three priority areas, as exemplars, to improve primary care for child health:
- Asthma
- Type 1 Diabetes
- Antibiotic overuse.
N-PARTI will conduct a series of implementation research projects to increase the amount of care provided by general practitioners that is in line with best practice guidelines for these priority areas. Central to N-PARTI is the effective implementation of interventions to increase uptake of evidence-based care guidelines.
About the scholarship
This PhD will be embedded in N-PARTI and will work with the team on multiple aspects of the project. Candidates may work with a team on a single priority area or take a broader approach and work across the implementation of findings in all three priority areas.
Ultimately, the PhD candidate will work with the research team to:
- bring the evidence base up to date
- coordinate the co-design of interventions and development of resource materials
- pilot and refine interventions
- roll-out the intervention as part of a demonstration program
- assist with evaluation of implementation fidelity and program outcomes
- develop tools for taking the programs to scale.
This is an unrivalled opportunity to conduct a research degree supervised by researchers who are amongst the best in the world. Come and do research with us that will make a difference to children’s lives.
