ARC PhD scholarship in solar window technology with quantum dots

This PhD scholarship, part of the ARC Linkage project, aims to develop solar windows that convert urban building facades into energy sites using advanced nanomaterials, light guiding strategies, and PV cells.

This is a collaborative project focusing on developing cutting-edge, high-efficiency solar window technology. The PhD candidate will work alongside leading researchers in nanomaterials, optical management and solar cells at Macquarie University and UNSW Sydney, as well as industry partners.

About the scholarship

The candidate will optimise the synthesis of quantum dots (QD) to improve their light emission efficiency and develop novel luminescent solar concentrator (LSC) structure using nanocomposite of the QDs to achieve high power output.

Availability

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a direct entry three-year PhD program. A Master’s degree in materials science and engineering or chemistry is preferred.

Components

The scholarship comprises:

  • a tuition fee offset/scholarship
  • a living allowance stipend.

The value of each stipend scholarship is $38,500 per annum (full time, indexed) for three years.
