ANII Uruguay and Macquarie University co-funded scholarship

Uruguayan citizens can apply for co-funded scholarships at Macquarie University in Graduate Diploma (Grad Dip), Master of Research (MRes) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs for Session 2, 2025.

Co-funded scholarships will be offered to eligible Uruguayan citizens accepted into a Grad Dip, MRes or PhD program at Macquarie University.

About the scholarship

Macquarie University has partnered with the National Research and Innovation Agency of Uruguay (ANII) to promote the training of Uruguayan students in a Grad Dip, MRes or PhD program at Macquarie University in specific research disciplines via co-funded scholarships. The scholarship round is currently open for candidates to commence with Macquarie University in Session 2, 2025.

Availability

This scholarship is available to eligible candidates to undertake a:

  • one-year Grad Dip
  • one- year MRes
  • three-year PhD
  • four-year MRes and PhD.

Candidates are encouraged to apply if their research projects fall into the disciplines of:

  • agriculture, livestock and agro-industrial production
  • animal and human health (include pharmaceutical)
  • audio-visual production
  • biotechnology and nanotechnology
  • education and social development
  • energy, including renewable energy
  • environment and biodiversity
  • Information and Communications Technology (ICT)
  • tourism
  • transport and logistic
  • other areas defined by the parties.

Components

For a Grad Dip program, the co-funded scholarship will provide funding for:

  • a tuition fee offset for a maximum of one year
  • a living allowance stipend valued at $22,000 p.a. for up to one year.

For a MRes program, the co-funded scholarship will provide funding for:

  • a tuition fee offset for a maximum of one year
  • a living allowance stipend valued at $38,500 p.a. (at the current rate) for up to one year.

For a PhD program, the co-funded scholarship will provide funding for:

  • a tuition fee offset for a maximum of three years
  • a living allowance stipend valued at $38,500 p.a. (at the current rate) for up to three years.

How to apply

Applications will be assessed at Macquarie University and, if successful, Macquarie University will send a list of eligible candidates to ANII. Successful Grad Dip, MRes or PhD candidates must forward their Macquarie University admission letter to ANII by May and November each year.

ANII will make the final selection of students and inform Macquarie University.

Selected candidates will receive an offer letter for the relevant higher degree research program.

The Macquarie University application round is currently open for Session 2 2025 commencement. The round closes on 13 March 2025 (11:59pm Sydney time).
