Macquarie University is committed to providing its research staff and students with resources and development opportunities to support responsible research practices.
Training
Face-to-face training sessions will be facilitated by the Research Ethics and Integrity team and faculties. Contact the Research Ethics and Integrity team to request in-person training.
RDM Online is a self-directed introductory course to RDM that’s available to all Macquarie staff on Workday. The course covers essential topics including:
- data management planning
- storage and security
- naming and metadata
- repositories
- best practice, including the FAIR principles.
Completion of the course will assist researchers in submitting their Data Management Plans in FoRA.

Epigeum’s RST is a suite of comprehensive online training programs that build the knowledge and skills that are essential to becoming a first-class researcher.
Currently available to all Macquarie University students and staff, the RST includes the following five self-directed programs:
- Becoming a researcher
- Disseminating your research
- Beyond research
- Ethical research
- Research methods
Enrollment
To access the RST for the first time:
- Visit Epigeum’s registration page and complete the registration form using your MQ email address. When asked for a token, enter 390f6223.
- Activate your account through the link sent to your Macquarie University email address.
- Once you have activated your account, log in using your chosen username and password combination. You will be shown the Epigeum program in the My Courses screen.
- Click on a program to see a list of available courses. Select a specific course to launch it.

The US Office of Research Integrity offers interactive online training in research integrity for laboratory and research clinic-based researchers. There is also a collection of case studies relating to research integrity and summaries of actual research integrity cases.
