My scholarship literally plucked me out of such a stressful financial situation that had dire consequences on my university life and my ability to study. It has allowed me to chase my dream to be a music teacher. I feel so fortunate and grateful.

Having a scholarship relieved a lot of stress and allowed me to focus on studying to get the marks I needed to apply for Medicine. I am so grateful to be in a unique position of having no debt from my undergraduate studies which means I am able to use HECS for more of my private paying postgraduate courses.

The scholarship means a lot, coming from not just an ethnic background but also a low socioeconomic one. I would like to return to my community after I graduate from this course, not only as a clinician, but also as an inspiration to those from a similar background as me.

I wouldn’t be where I am without the scholarships I received from Macquarie – the experiences and pathways it provided me were incredible. I’m truly appreciative, it was beyond generous.

Receiving a scholarship has been life changing. It’s alleviated the transition of moving from the country to the city and has given me the ability to start university on the right foot.

I've been very lucky to receive scholarships from Macquarie, they've enabled some of the best experiences of my degree and helped me see places and meet people that would've been out of my reach. I cannot begin to express my gratitude and the impact my scholarship made on my life and my dream of becoming a doctor. I found my passion in emergency medicine, and hope to enter into the field of retrieval medicine and attend to the health needs of rural communities.

My scholarship not only represented financial aid; it symbolized the university’s belief in my potential; potential I didn’t know I had until I arrived here. Now I see that I have been gracefully awarded the opportunity to discover who I am and what I am capable of, without any circumstantial limitations. I hope to extend the same grace one day.
