The recent Macquarie University Motor Neuron Disease Gala raised over $125,000 for vital MND research at a sold-out event at the Art Gallery of NSW.

MND community digs deep to fund research
On Friday 23 June, at a glamorous event hosted by Professor Dom Rowe, the MND community donned their finest threads and kicked up their heels to mark 10 years of the Macquarie University Motor Neuron Disease Research Centre.
Funds raised assist the MND Research Centre to understand this awful disease and help get a step closer to finding a cure to ease the suffering MND patients endure.
Guests could bid on silent auction items, buy raffle tickets, bid in a live auction, buy a key in the lucky key draw or simply make a donation. The live auction was the big winner of the night, raising $50,000, and included Elvis, a calf from Professor Dominic Rowe’s farm.
There was a pre-event tour of the new section of the Art Gallery, and guests enjoyed drinks and canapes whilst viewing the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes exhibition. They were treated to a sit-down dinner with entertainment by the Rodric White Trio and speeches by Professor Dom Rowe, Vice-Chancellor Bruce S Dowton and Gill Truman who delivered her speech through eye gaze technology.
Other prizes included: a lunch cruise on 'Desiderata', a 45-foot Sea Ray Sundancer, a week's accommodation for five people on Hamilton Island, a 7-night family holiday at Lake Nojiri, Japan, bespoke tours of the MND centre with lunch included and a 9ct gold designer bracelet with diamond inlay. .
