Hear from Shane Acorn, co-founder of Invicta Prospects Group, about his time in the Australian Defence Force as a Clearance Diver.
1. What attracted you to become a Clearance Diver (CD)?
After working for a few years in coal technology and HR, I needed a challenge. Clearance Diving presented an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary, combined with working in some great locations.
2. What did you love most about your time as a CD?
The pinnacle was definitely my time at TAG-East. I was lucky enough to serve at the unit with some really great guys which made it something I'll look back on fondly for years to come.
3. What is your fondest memory about being a CD?
My final dive in the military. It was a force swim and alongside me was one of my best mates and a guy whom I joined with back in 2010. It was fitting to have him next to me for my last time in the water with the boys.
4. Where has your career taken you since discharge?
I discharged into my own business- INVICTA Prospects Group - which I co-founded with fellow ex-CD Daniel Pace. IPG is a technology startup. Our goal is to use Artificial Intelligence to improve efficiency in military planning, increase safety and assist with complex decision making for the ADF and other militaries.
