#1 in the world for Accounting and Taxation
Macquarie University has been named the leading institution in the world for Accounting and Taxation in The Australian’s 2025 Research Magazine.

This follows three consecutive years as Australia’s leading institution in the field.
The Australian’s annual Research Magazine, compiled in partnership with analytics firm League of Scholars, names the best Australian researchers and research institutions across 250 research fields, based on research published in the world’s top journals and cited in the last five years.
Among the results, Professor John Dumay from the Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance at Macquarie Business School has been named the Australian leader in Accounting and Taxation.
Professor Leonie Tickle, Executive Dean of Macquarie Business School, extended her congratulations to the Head of Department of Accounting and Corporate Governance, Professor Rahat Munir, and to the exceptional academics who contributed to this achievement.
“It’s outstanding to see this recognition of the world-leading expertise, quality and impact of Macquarie Business School’s research in accounting and taxation. Our researchers are leading the world in solving some of the biggest and most important challenges that face us,” she said.
