Creating solutions to complex challenges
The capstone unit allows Macquarie Business School (MQBS) students to apply their skills and knowledge to a real-world project.
Capstone is a project-based unit in which final year undergraduate, postgraduate and MBA students:
- reflect on the knowledge they learned in the course
- work in groups and individually on a real-world project.
Become a capstone client
As a capstone client, your organisation can benefit from fresh insights and innovative strategies as students collaborate on projects that address your specific business challenges.
Once our partner and problem/project are identified, our students:
- work with the partner or client to help them solve the real-world problem
- go through the process of problem identification and problem solving
- offer recommendations or solutions to the client’s problem using relevant theoretical frameworks in business strategy.
To become a capstone client, please provide a problem you would like our students to work on. The problem should:
- be at the corporate/strategic level
- allow students to integrate all knowledge their have learned throughout their studies.
The client representative/s will:
- come to a class and introduce the problem to our students at the beginning of the term.
- return to the class in the last week of the session and listen to the final presentations by our students and provide some oral feedback/comments.
Specific dates will be shared once the capstone project has been approved.
In addition to the opportunities to interact with our students, our capstone students will provide you with:
- presentations with business analysis and any recommendations/solutions
- a written business plan and report detailing the proposed recommendation and business plan.
