Associate Professor Cynthia Webster

Biography

Associate Professor Cynthia Webster is the interim Head of Department for Marketing at Macquarie Business School. Previously, she has served as the Associate Dean Higher Degree Research, Course Director for the Master of Commerce and the Marketing Major Coordinator for the Bachelor of Commerce.
Associate Professor Webster has held prior academic appointments at the UNSW, University of Newcastle, University of Queensland and UCLA. She holds a PhD from the University of California, Irvine, and specializes in social network analysis which provides an interdisciplinary perspective for the investigation of a broad range of issues in the areas of consumer behaviour, relationship marketing, branding, business networks and social marketing. She has worked on projects within the health, finance and wine industries examining issues surrounding hedonic consumption, corporate branding, customer engagement, electronic word-of-mouth, retention, and loyalty programs. Her research is published in top international journals such as the International Journal of Research in Marketing, Journal of Small Business Management, Biomed Public Health, Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Business Research, Psychology & Marketing, and Journal of Macromarketing.She is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Consumer Behaviour, on the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Advertising and is a regular reviewer for top marketing journals.
Associate Professor Webster has consulted to industry, government agencies and universities, including: World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention, Deakin University; SAX Institute; nib Health Fund; Wine Selectors; NSW Health Promotion Research and Evaluation Network; and Primary and Preventative Health, Western District Health Service, VIC; Department of Community Health Sciences, University of Calgary.
