Death of Elizabeth Macquarie at Old Gruline House:
11 March 1835
Jarvisfield 11th Wednesday March
1835
My Dear Sir
Mrs Macquarie I regret to say has just breathed her last as was anticipated for some days back — She died exactly at 2 o'clock p.m. or about half an hour ago, with out a struggle, having been talking a minute previously in the usual manner to the maid who sat by her in bed — Miss Jarvis requests that Mrs Grigorson will lose no time in coming here — I wrote also to her son Lachlan in the event he may come to Oban — Miss Jarvis must have the assistance of other relations, and particularly if it should so happen that Lachlan should not arrive in time — I need say no more you yourself will best judge of what should be done —With best respects I am
My Dear Sir
Yours truly
D M McLean
I had no black edged paper —
