The Annual Register: Death Notice

"In Duke-street, St. James's, in his 63rd year, major-general Lachlan Macquarie, who had served his country 47 years. On the 11th, his remains were removed for interment in the Isle of Mull, on which occasion a number of the carriages of the nobility attended them to the wharf where they were embarked."

Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine: Death Notice

"DEATHS
July 1. In Duke Street, St. James's, London, Major-Gen. Lauchlan [sic] Macquarie in the 63d year of his age. His conduct, from earliest youth, was marked by a most amiable disposition, a high sense of honour, and animated zeal for his profession. He entered the Army at the age of 15, and served his king and country for 47 years in all parts of the world, with great credit."

John Bull: Death Notice

"DIED
On Thursday the 1st. instant, in Duke-street, St. James's, Major-General Lachlan Macquarie in the 63rd year of his age. His conduct from earliest youth, was marked by a most amiable disposition, a high sense of honor, and animated zeal for his profession. He entered the Army at the age of fifteen, and served his King and Country for forty-seven years in all parts of the world, with great credit. His many excellent qualities endeared him to an extensive circle of friends in all classes of society; and it may be truly said that, no man ever possessed in a higher degree, the respect and the esteem of his superiors, inferiors, and equals."
