Thursday 5. Augt. 1819 !
This day the Ship Baring, Commanded by Capt. Lamb, Sailed for India, having Detachments of the 47th. 83d. & 89th. Regts. Commanded by Capt. Coates of the latter Corps, on board as Passengers for India — Vizt. 1 Capt. (Coates) 1 Lieut. (Mee 83d.) 30 Soldiers, 5 Women, & 8 Children belonging to the above mentioned Corps. Capt. Lamb has promised – if practicable, to land those Detachments at Madras.

Monday 9. Augt. !
The Ship Hibernia, Commanded by Capt. John Lennon, departed this day, from Port Jackson, in a Piratical manner, without her Port Clearance, and without the Naval Officer being on board.

It is also supposed that a number of Prisoners and other Persons are gone off in the Hibernia, and that they were taken on board after She had cleared the Heads. —

Thursday 12 Augt. 1819 !
This being the anniversary of the Birth of H. R. Highness The Prince Regent, the same was observed as a Holiday throughout the Territory, and kept with the usual Demonstrations of Joy and respect. — The Royal Standard and Union were Hoisted at Sunrise, The Troops were drawn out and fired Feu-de-joie at Noon; the Batery [sic] firing a Royal Salute at the same Hour. —

I entertained in the Evening the whole of the Civil & Military Officers at Sydney; Forty two Persons having sat down to Dinner. —

Wednesday 25. Augt.
This day arrived in Sydney Cove the Ship Bencoolen Transport Commanded by Capt. J. B. Austice with 150 Male convicts from Ireland which She left on the 24th. of April last, Doctr. — [name omitted] Evans R. Navy being the Surgeon Supdt., and Lieut. Prior of the 46th. Regt. commanding the Guard consisting of Detachments of the 46th. 48th. and 87th. Regiments. — The Guard and Convicts have all arrived in good Health – none of either having died on the Passage. —

Thursday 26. Augt. 1819 !
This day anchored in Sydney Cove the Ship Mary Transport Commanded by Capt. John Lusk with 159 Male Convicts from Ireland – whence She sailed on the 25th. of April last; Mr. — [name omitted] Morgan Surgeon R. Navy being Surgeon Supdt., and Lieut. Wilton of the 53d. Regt. Commanding the Guard, consisting of Detachments of the 53d. 59th. & 87th. Regts. — The Guard & Convicts have arrived in good Health; only one of the latter having Died during the Voyage. — The Passengers per Mary are Mrs. Wilton & 3 Children – and Mr. — [name omitted] Hill a Free Settler. — Surgeon Morgan is come out to join H. M. Surveying Cutter Mermaid.

Tuesday 31st. Augt. 1819 !!! —
At 12,O'Clock at Noon this day, I laid the Foundation (in the North East Angle of the Chancel) Stone of the intended New Church in George Street in the Town of Sydney on the South Side of the present Burying Ground; the following Persons being present, and along with me on this most interesting occasion – Vizt.

Major Druitt Actg. Chief Engineer
Mr. Secry. Campbell
Capt. Antill Major of Brigade
The Revd. Wm. Cowper – Chaplain
The Revd. Richd. Hill – Do.
Mr. S. H. Greenway Architect.

Mrs. Macquarie and Lachlan also witnessed this Pious Ceremony, and a numerous Concourse of Spectators were present on the occasion.

I named the New Church after the Tutelar Saint of Scotland – namely — "Saint Andrew's Church".
