Monday 2. Decr.!!!
Drew a Draft of this day's date – on the Police Fund – in favor of Depy. Comy. Genl. Allan – for £1481.16.8½ Sterling; being the amount of 3951 Gallons of Spirits due from the said Fund to the King's Stores for issues made therefrom on account of Sundry Government Contracts agreed to be paid in part in Spirits; which sum is to be paid to Mr. Allan in his own Notes in Treasurer's Hands. —

Drew also on same Day a Draft on the Police Fund – in favor of Messrs. OBryan & Parker – for Twenty five Pounds Sterling (£25), in part payment of their Contract with Government for erecting a Fence round Sundry large Govt. Paddocks near the Town of Parramatta for the use of the Government Herds. —

Thursday 5. Decr. 1816 !
Set out from Parramatta early this morning in the Carriage, accompanied by Mrs. Macquarie and Lieut. Watts, on an Excursion to the Districts of Airds and Appin to view and inspect the new Roads & Bridges. — Breakfasted at "Moore-Bank" – and Slept the first Night at "Lachlan-Vale" in the District of Appin; Slept the 2d. Night at "St. Andrews" – and returned again to Parramatta on Saturday the 7th. of December – Mr. Moore J. P. at Liverpool attended us on this EXcursion. —

Wednesday 11. Decr. !!! —
I went to and transacted Public Business this day at Sydney; – notifying in Govt. and Genl. Orders of this date to the Public at large that Jeffrey Hart Bent Esqr. had been recalled and removed from his Office as Judge of the Supreme Court in this Colony; – and this I have been compelled to do from his recent violent and illegal Proceedings in summoning a Supreme Court to assemble at his own Chambers and issuing Warrants of arrest against Mr. Riley, one of the Members, and Mr. Gore the Provost Marshal ! —

Monday 16. Decr. 1816 !
Drew a Draft of this date on the Police Fund, in favor of Serjt. Broadfoot of the 46th. Regt. for Fifteen Pounds Sterling (£15), as a reward from Government for his recent very active and useful Services in pursuit of the Hostile Tribes of Black Natives, along the Rivers Hawkesbury, Nepean, and Grose. —

Embarked 32 Male Convicts, under a small Guard of Soldiers, together with a Supply of Slop Clothing, Bedding, & Sundry Stores, for the use of the Settlement of the Derwent on board the Govt. Brig Kangaroo – with orders to Lieut. Jeffreys her Commander to sail this Evening or tomorrow morning – and return here again with all practicable speed.

N.B. The Kangaroo did not sail for the Derwent from Port Jackson till Wednesday the 18th. of Decr. 1816.

Wedy. 18. Decr. !
Went with Mrs. Macquarie, our dear Boy, and Family, on a short visit to Windsor, where we remained two days – and found the Weather excessively hot and disagreeable; returning again to Parramatta early in the morning of Friday the 20th. of December. —

Friday 20th. Decr. 1816 !!!
This Evening about 5,O'Clock, anchored in Sydney Cove, the Ship Surry Transport Commanded by Capt. Thomas Raine, having 150 Male Convicts on board from Cork in Ireland, whence She sailed on the 14th. of July last – touching on her way at Rio Janeiro – none of the Convicts having died on the Passage and all have arrived here in excellent Health. — A Detachment of the 46th. Regt. of 30 men, Commanded by Lieut. Reveley, have arrived in the Surry as a Guard over the Convicts. —Mr. John Fletcher Bayley of the Royal Navy, is come out as Surgeon and Supdt. of the Ship Surry. — Mr. Cunningham Govt. Botanist, Mr. Kitchen a free Settler, and two Missionaries for the South Sea-Islands, have arrived as Passengers in the Surry. — This Ship, besides Convicts, has brought out some very useful Stores for the use of Government; – but no Public Dispatches have been received by her. —

Tuesday 24. Decr. !
The Convicts on board the Surry were inspected and mustered this day – as usual by Mr. Secretary Campbell. —

Thursday 26. Decr. !
The Convicts from the Surry were this day landed at Sydney, and inspected there by myself in Person – as usual – previous to their Distribution. —

Drew a Draft of this date – on the Police Fund – in favor of William Roberts – for Seven Hundred Pounds (£700) Sterling, in part payment of his Contract with Government for making new Roads & Bridges in the districts of Airds, Appin, Bringelly &c. &c.

Saturday 28. Decr. !!! —
Pursuant to Public Notice and Invitation, a number of friendly Natives or Aborigines of the Colony, amounting in all to 179 Men, Women, and Children, assembled at Parramatta in the forenoon of this day – and were most hospitably and plentifully regaled and entertained with Dinner and Punch at the expence of Government – in presence of myself and the Gentlemen of the Committee for the Civilization of the Natives; the Children (15 Boys & Girls) at the School or Institution, having been presented and shewn to their friends and Relatives now assembled – who were much pleased with their clean healthy appearance – and progress in Education.

The Gentlemen of the Committee dined with me Afterwards at Government House. –

Memorandums ! — Monday 30 Decr. 1816.
I this day promised to give Mr. Judge Advocate Wylde 15 Cows from the Govt. Herds on a credit of 3 years to be then paid for in kind; to give him Ten Govt. men on the Store for 18 months; and also to Victual Himself, Mrs. Wylde & Child (as Settlers) for the same Period. —

I promised Mr. Wylde Senr. 8 Cows, Six Govt. men, and Himself victualled, all on the same terms as above specified.

I also promised Mr. Joshua Jno. Moore (Broyr. in law to Judge Advocate Wylde) 5 Cows, Four Govt. men, and himself victualled – on the same terms as above specified; on their severally taking possession of their Grants of 2000 acres, 1000 acres, and 500 acres of Land. —
