Septr. 1. Sunday. —It rained all this day incessantly prodigiously
heavy, and has rained every day less or more since my arrival at Bombay
on the 11th. of last month. —
Septr. 2. Monday! — Accounts were received this day from Calcutta that
Marquis Cornwallis had set out from thence on a progress to the Upper
Provinces, and eventually to assume the Personal Command of the British
Grand Army in the Field! —
Septr. 15. Sunday. — By this day's Post we heard that Marquis
Wellesley, the late Governor General, had Embarked at Calcutta on board
the Howe Man of War for England on the 21st. of last month; His Lordship
having been recalled at the express solicitation of the Court of
Directors To His Majesty's Ministers and Board of Control.
