Decr. 1.
Thursday! — I removed this day from Bennet Street St. James's, to new Lodgings at No. 6. Stafford Street – Dover Street, at the House of Mr. Reilly. — I had the pleasure of dining today with General & Mrs. Calvert, and a very agreeable Party, at their House in Grosvenor Place. Mrs. Calvert is a very pretty, and agreeable accomplished Woman. —
I wrote Letters of this date to Govr Duncan and Mr. Chas. Forbes at Bombay to go overland – and which Mr. Roberts the Depy. Chairman of the Court of Directors has been so kind as to promise to forward immediately.
Decr. 6.
Tuesday!!! — I wrote of this date to my attorney Mr. John Campbell W.S. at Edinburgh, enclosing him the Conjunct Bond granted, signed and duly executed, by my Brother Charles and myself to Lieut. Genl. Alexr. Campbell of Monzie, for the sum of Eight Thousand Pounds Sterling, lent by him on said Bond, to pay the Purchase Money of the Lot of Lochbuy Estate lately Purchased by and for my Brother Charles! — I have written to Genl. Campbell to thank him for this very kind Loan, and to say that it shall be repaid him by me whenever he chuses [sic] to call for his money, only giving me or my Brother Six months warning before hand to prepare the money. —
Decr. 10.
Saturday! — I rode out on Horseback today to Chigwell to dine and spend the Day with Mr. & Mrs. Urmston, and staid [sic] all night there. —
Decr. 11.
Sunday. — I returned to Town before Dinner; and called on my way back on Colonel and Miss Cook at Caroline Mount to pay them my Compliments of Condolence. — I staid [sic] with them for about an hour – and was very sorry to find both of them in bad health and very low Spirits. —

Tuesday! — I had the honor of dining today at the Earl of Harrington's with H. R. H. The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Chatham, Genl. Brownrigg, Mr. Greenwood, Genl. Baird, and His Lordship's own Family. —
Decr. 21.
Wednesday! — The King held a Levee at St. James's today, which I attended along with General Baird – who was Presented to His Majesty by Marquis Cornwallis – and was graciously received. —
I dined today with Mrs. Campbell, Corwhin.
Decr. 22.
Thursday! — At 10,O'Clock this morning Doctor Everard Home of Sackville Street – accompanied by his assistant Mr. Nicholson, came to my Lodgings, and performed a Surgical operation on me of a very delicate nature; from which I hope to derive great relief and benefit in due time. — The operation was very delicately performed, and gave very little pain. — It is however necessary to confine myself to my Room for 8 or ten days. — !!! —
