Decr. 3.
Decr. 4. I waited on the Governor and Admiral immediately after Breakfast, and also on all my other principal friends in Town. I found my House in Military Square prepared in all respects for my reception and everything in perfect good order – my Servant Bowmanjee having arrived here from the Coast some weeks ago. — Having invited my friend Capt. Hardyman to live with me on shore as long as his Ship La Forte should remain in Port, I immediately had the best Room in my House fitted up for him, which he is to occupy accordingly. — I resumed my Duty as Major of Brigade to the King's Troops at the Presidency in this day's General Orders. — The King's Troops now here are the 86th. Commanded by Lt. Colonel Lloyd, and 88th. Regt. by Lt. Colonel Beresford, both of which have arrived at Bombay since my leaving it to go upon Service. — The 84th. Regt. Commanded by Colonel Sir Wm. Clarke, and now stationed at Goa, arrived also here since my departure. — Thus – there are now no less than Five King's Regiments serving under the Presidency of Bombay including the 75th. and 77th. Regiments. — Capt Hardyman and myself dined with Genl. Stuart – and spent a very pleasant Day!
