Monday! — The Honble. The Governor, and Commander in Chief, having now finished all their business, in their Capacity as a Committee of Government, relative to the affairs and future government of the Province of Malabar and its Dependencies; Governor Duncan, and General Stuart, with their respective Suites, Embarked this Evening at 8,O'Clock on board The Honble Company's Ship Sir Edward Hughes East Indiaman, Commanded by Capt. James Urmston, then at Anchor in Tellicherry Roads. —

The Governor's Suite consisted of his Private Secry. Mr. J. A. Grant, his Aide de Camp Captain Wilson, and Malabar Interpreter Doctor Drummond. —

Genl. Stuart's consisted of Capt. Gordon Dy. Adjt. Genl., Lt. Walker Mily. Secry., Lt. Campbell A.D.C., and myself. —

The Land Breeze setting in about 10,O'Clock, we weighed anchor and set sail for Bombay.

Jany. 8.
Monday! — After a very pleasant Passage of Eight days – all of which time we spent very agreeably on board Ship, we anchored in Bombay Harbour, a little within the Light House, at 7,O'Clock this Evening. —

The Governor, and General Stuart, with their respective Suites, landed very soon after the Ship came to Anchor. — I staid [sic] on board all Night, not knowing whether my own House, was fit to receive me.

Jany. 9.
Tuesday! — I Breakfasted on board the Hughes – and at 9,O'Clock this morning I accompanied Capt. Urmston in his own Boat on shore. — I went direct to my friend Mr. John Forbes's, from whom I learnt that all my Servants, Furniture and Baggage had been removed some time since to my own House in "Rampart Row"; and that my worthy good friend Lt. Colonel Gore was living there at present, which I had requested of him to do when he lately came up from Malabar for the purpose of returning to Europe. —

After staying some little time with my friend Mr. Forbes, I went to my own House, where I found Col: Gore at Breakfast. — He was very happy to see me, as were also my Servt. Bowmanjee and my two Black Boys Hector and George. — I found everything safe and in good order – and all very well arranged by poor Bowmanjee. — I requested of my friend Colonel Gore to stay in my House and live with me until he embarked for England – which he agreed to do. — I then went to call on my several friends in Town, who were all very glad to see me. —
