August
Augt. 14
I wrote of this date by an American Ship belonging to New York,
returning thither by way of China, to my Friends Capt. Lachn. Mc.Lean of 60th. Regt. in Canada; Lieut. Hector Mc.Lean late 84th. Regt., and Isaac Deschamps Esqr., in Nova Scotia. —
Augt. 31.
The Ponsborne Indiaman Capt. Thomas
arrived this day from England; I had the pleasure of receiving letters
from my Broyr. Chas.,
Uncle Lochbuy and good Friend General Maclean: — I am inform'd by these
letters of the Death of my Friends Mr. Campbell
of Airds and Mr. Maclaine of Scallastle – the
rest of my Relations and Friends being all very well. — The
Ponsborne brings certain information and a Particular account of
the happy recovery of our Good and amiable Sovereign the King; which
every one looks upon to be a most fortunate and happy circumstance for
the British Nation. — The Ponsborne brought One Hundred Recruits
for the 75th. Regt.
and Twenty Five for us; the rest of our Recruits coming in the
London Indiaman.
