VARAKSIN, Alexey Timofeyevich

Midshipman. Graduate of the Kronstadt Naval Cadet Corps (1790); served at the oar-propelled vessel of the Russian Navy which participated in the Swedish-Russian sea battle in the Viborg Bay (1790); Warrant Officer (1792); participated in the navigation undertaken by the Russian Navy squadron commanded by Vice-Admiral P.I. Khanykov along the shores of England, and also in the North Sea, together with the English squadron (1795-1796), Lieutenant (1798); served in the Russian Navy squadron commanded by Vice-Admiral M. K. Makarov, which together with the English Navy blockaded the exit from the shores of Holland occupied by French forces (1798-1799); assigned to the Astrakhan Port, Commander of Maria yacht (1804-1810); retired as Captain II Rank in 1810.
