Foundation unit
A 100-level unit designed to introduce students to the fundamental knowledge of a discipline. These units are specified in programs of study where relevant.

Full-time HDR candidate
Involves, at least, an average weekly commitment by a HDR candidate of 40 hours per week throughout the year on a program of research and advanced study.

Full-time student
A student who is enrolled in units in an academic year which comprise at least 0.75 of an Equivalent Full-Time Study Load for the course for which they are admitted.

Gateway unit
A foundational unit, typically offered at 600 level, designed to provide an introduction to the discipline for students entering a postgraduate program from a non-cognate discipline.

Grade
This is the statement of a student's overall performance in meeting the learning outcomes of a unit of study. At the University it is referred to as a Standardised Numerical Grade (SNG). Examples include High Distinction (HD); Distinction (D); Credit (Cr); Pass (P); Fail (F).
