Meaningful engagement and collaboration
The Engine Room is the nexus of interaction between Macquarie University's School of Engineering and the industries located in Macquarie Industrial Park.
Our intent is to foster community, meaningful engagement and collaboration with our local industry partners.
Involvement of Macquarie staff and students in these new enterprises will be facilitated by the location of the Engine Room, and encouraged through a variety of networking events, consultations, joint projects, and funding applications for joint research projects and business development opportunities affiliated with Macquarie University.
Macquarie’s Engineering School is seeking to improve and increase its engagement with industry, especially with practising engineers, and in other ways that provide "engagement with professional practice" (EPP) for staff and students, as recommended by Engineers Australia for accredited professional engineering programs.
Macquarie's Engineering program is being redeveloped to incorporate a substantial amount of project and problem-based learning. To support that the Engineering-Industry Partnership Program is being redeveloped to establish and maintain managed relationships with a wide variety of industry partners and professional engineers who will be invited to provide real problems and scenarios for student projects and engage with those students as they work on solutions.
Visiting engineers
We welcome visiting engineers. The Engine Room was created to foster meaningful engagement with our industry partners.
