Maurizio Benelli
Maurizio's PhD developed cold storage technologies for two key insects: a tachinid fly that is important in biological control of lepidopteran pests, and the Queensland fruit fly, an insect pest posing a significant threat for the Australian horticulture industries. The protocols developed allow for better alignment of demand and supply of insects for release for biological control and in sterile insect technique programs, respectively. Maurizio's PhD was carried out under a Cotutelle international program between Macquarie University and the University of Bologna (Italy).
