The Phil Carne Prize 2020
A huge congratulations to Vivek Kemparaju, PhD student at Applied BioSciences. Vivek has been awarded the prestigious Phil Carne Prize for 2020 by the Australian Entomological Society for his paper 'Forewarned is forearmed: Queensland fruit flies detect olfactory cues from predators and respond with predator-specific behaviour.' The Phil Carne Prize is aimed at fostering high quality entomological research in young scientists.
The name of the prize celebrates contributions made by Dr Phil Carne to the science of Entomology and the Australian Entomological Society. Entries for the prize are in the form of a scientific paper that deals with research on any entomological topic. Finalists are invited to present their papers at the Society’s Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference.
