Information for studying chiropractic at Macquarie

To practice within Australia, you're required to be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia and need to complete both the Bachelor of Chiropractic Science and Master of Chiropractic.

Bridging courses

HSC Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics are recommended studies for Chiropractic units although introductory units and bridging courses are available. If you are concerned about your science loads and are interested in doing a bridging course, there are a few on offer.

Enrolment advice for Master of Chiropractic

To apply for the Master of Chiropractic next year, please ensure you complete the following:

Notify University of expected completion

  • All completing students must submit an "I expect to complete" form at the start of your last academic year. If you have not already done so, click on the link and submit your form now.
  • Check that your expected graduation or expected completion date is recorded in eStudent.

Masters applications

Students intending to undertake the Master of Chiropractic must apply for a place in the program. Enrolment is not automatic as you are applying to a new degree. It is your responsibility to ensure you meet the application deadlines.

Domestic applications to postgraduate programs are completed via the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). Applications for the following year open around September each year.

If you are a commonwealth supported student (HECS-HELP) you will need to apply again for FEE-HELP once you receive your offer for the Master of Chiropractic. Within eStudent: click on the "My Offer" or "My Finances" tab, then click "Submit Commonwealth Assistance Form" (eCAF).

Other information

It is a university requirement that all students check their student email account. The Department of Chiropractic sends important information to your student email on a regular basis. These emails inform students of important deadlines, application processes, exam information, timetabling changes etc. The university also sends imperative information regarding enrolment matters, fee information etc. To avoid missing important dates, announcements or events, check your student email account regularly.

All tutorials and practicals start in Week 2, while lectures can commence in either Week 1 or Week 2.

Check your timetable to be sure.

You must be inducted into the Lab Rules [PDF 82KB] by your tutor or unit convenor prior to commencing class. These rules cover dress code, attendance, safety etc while in the Chiro Labs in 11 WW level 3.

It is always advisable to contact them to make an appointment prior.

The Head of Department meets with student representatives at least twice per semester. Send your comments to your student representative or the Macquarie University Chiropractic Student Association (MUCSA) representative, who will pass them on to the committee.

For on-campus room bookings:

  • Contact Campus Life on +61 (2) 9850 7610
  • Students are required to show the approved Visiting Speaker form to Campus Life. Campus Life will let the student know when the room has been booked, and advise the department of confirmed bookings.

For off-campus room bookings:

  • When students wish to book an off-campus room (ie Lane Cove Road Training Room), they should give the completed Visiting Speaker Form to Ashley Wheeler for approval.
  • When approved, they should book through the online room booking system at Office of Facilities Management (OFM) and specify that they have permission from the Chiropractic Department to book the room.

Research Seminar Series

The department organises lunch time research seminars monthly. Students are encouraged to attend. Visit the Department's Event page for more information.
