Ways to engage

Macquarie’s Graduate Research Academy supports industry partnerships at all levels of graduate research. Depending on your organisation’s needs, there are a range of options available.

Work with an MRes Year 2 candidate who has recently submitted their thesis, to answer a small but significant research question within your organisation.

Work with an PhD or MPhil candidate who has recently submitted their thesis, and draw on their expert research skills to generate insight into a problem facing your organisation.

Work with a currently enrolled PhD or MPhil candidate to address a substantial research question in a way that helps your organisation move forward into the future.

If your research question requires more than a three to six-month internship, why not look into a more substantial collaboration with a graduate researcher, ranging from a one-year MRes Year 2 project to a three-year PhD?

For more information about these options, what your organisation will need to contribute, and the benefits of collaborating with a graduate researcher in the Faculty of Arts, please contact gr.industry@mq.edu.au.

Engagement success stories

Hear from Faculty of Arts graduate researchers who have made a difference by working with professional, government, and non-government organisations.

During my Defense Industry Network internship with the NSW Police Force, I used scientific theory to inform applied technical approaches, while working with people with diverse industry-based experiences, and learning many technical programming and software collaboration skills. The highlight of my graduate research career so far has been working with the Sydney Environment Institute on a report about Just Transitions from coal in Australia, and a Macquarie graduate research internship comparing the sustainability of plant-based meats and animal-based beef.
