A national initiative

Social Sciences Week is coming up in September. It is our annual celebration of the many ways that we do social science research and teaching.

The Macquarie School of Social Sciences (MSSS) is pleased to announce an exciting week of events including:

  • seminars and workshops with inspiring activists, journalists and researchers
  • careers and advice sessions and awards celebrations for our fabulous students.

Join us to celebrate the social sciences and their unique contributions to understanding and supporting flourishing societies.

Our events will commence on Monday 9 September 2024 and will conclude on Friday 13 September 2024. For more details on any of the events below please click here.

All events will be held in the Arts Precinct, at 25 Wally’s Walk on the University’s Wallumattagal campus.

Prize ceremony

The Macquarie School of Social Sciences will celebrate our annual prize ceremony during Social Sciences Week.

The event will recognise outstanding performance and academic achievements within the school’s undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree research students during 2023.

Prize winners will receive their certificates during the ceremony, which will be chaired by Dr Richard Carter-White (Acting Director of Education, MSSS).

The ceremony will be followed by a three lightning talks on ‘Who’s on top? Inequality for rich and poor’, organised by the school’s Work Inequality and Wellbeing research group.

Refreshments will be provided.
