Addressing a critical gap in the market

In January 2025, Macquarie Law School will launch two groundbreaking postgraduate programs: the Graduate Certificate in Financial Integrity Law and the Master of Laws in Corporations, Human Rights, and Sustainability.

These programs are designed to meet the growing demand for legal professionals in an increasingly complex regulatory landscape concerning corporations.

Graduate Certificate in Financial Integrity Law

With the number of regulated entities under Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) legislation set to rise, Macquarie Law School has introduced the Graduate Certificate in Financial Integrity Law. The program is designed for those working in or aspiring to enter the field of governance, risk, and compliance. "The Graduate Certificate was designed by experts in the field and is tailored to the Australian AML/CTF regime," said Professor Lise Barry, Dean of Macquarie Law School.

"The Graduate Certificate in Financial Integrity Law addresses a critical gap in the market," added Associate Professor Doron Goldbarsht, Director of the Financial Integrity Hub (FIH). "We are committed to helping professionals meet the growing demand for compliance expertise and stay ahead of evolving financial crime regulations."

Master of Laws in Corporations, Human Rights and Sustainability

The Master of Laws in Corporations, Human Rights, and Sustainability responds to emerging global legal norms that call for corporations to go beyond profit maximisation and address wider societal challenges. Designed in collaboration with the leaders of the B&HR Access to Justice Lab (A2J Lab), the program will equip graduates with the tools needed to foster a more just and sustainable global economy.

“Corporations today are increasingly expected to earn ‘profit with principles,’” said UN Special Rapporteur on the right to development and Macquarie Law School Professor Surya Deva. “From conflicts to climate change, poverty, unaffordable housing, modern slavery, gender discrimination, fake news, and artificial intelligence, this program provides the legal knowledge necessary to navigate these complexities.”
