Macquarie Law Students earn runner-up in Kirby Moot

At the 12th Michael Kirby Contract Law Moot, Macquarie Law School’s team led by Simeon Levine achieved runner-up, showcasing their advocacy and research abilities.

Macquarie Law School has achieved another excellent result in competitive mooting this year. The team are runners-up in the 12th Annual Michael Kirby Contract Law Moot in Melbourne, Victoria.

Over the last week of September, Anastasia Muscolino, Charlotte Russell, Diako Nabavi and Arnav Gandhi, along with their coach Simeon Levine, represented Macquarie University in this prestigious moot.

After months of preparation and hard work, the team advocated in the Grand Final, before the Honourable Michael D. Kirby AC CMG himself, along with Catherine Holmes AC SC, Michael D Wyles K.C. FAICD, Adjunct Professor Picha Djohan, David S Thomson, OAM, FACE and Melissa Kirby BA Hons GDLP.

The team expressed their gratitude for the support from the Michael and Johan Scholarship Fund, emphasising the value that participating in such competitive events has for Macquarie Law School students as they advance their professional legal skills.

"Through participating in the Michael Kirby Contract Law Moot, the team has gained valuable experience in legal research, submission writing and oral advocacy skills. They were also given the opportunity to meet law students from across the country and learn from a wide range of accomplished advocates who kindly donated their time to judge throughout the competition."
