The 2018 Blackshield Lecture and Alumni Reception was held on Tuesday 27 November at the Federal Court of Australia.

It was a superb evening with many happy alumni engaging with Australia's leading legal minds and experts, MQ staff and students.

The event was hosted by Professor Marc De Vos, Dean of Macquarie Law School.

Guest speaker Justice Gageler AC presented this year’s lecture titled “Small Steps and Giant Leaps: Patterns in Australian Constitutional Adjudication”.

Emeritus Professor Tony Blackshield AO joined Justice Gageler AC on stage afterwards for further discussion and an audience Q&A.

The Blackshield Lecture is a marquee law event. It is a celebration of inquiry, ideas and community. It also complements our commitment to The Law School Campaign.
