Jennifer Barton - Biography

Passionately committed to the achievement of social justice, fiercely devoted to her family and a mentor and a friend to her associates at the Minter Ellison law firm in Sydney, Jennifer Barton was much loved and respected for her integrity, courage, intelligence, work ethic and generosity of spirit – a constant source of inspiration to her colleagues, friends and family and are greatly missed.

Jennifer Barton graduated from Macquarie University in 2007 after completing her Psychology/Law degree with distinction. After her initial summer clerkship with Minter Ellison, one of the largest Australia-based international corporate law firms, Jennifer began practising law in 2008 with Minters, soon becoming a highly valued member of the Insolvency and Reconstruction Team.

As well as being a talented lawyer, Jennifer led the Minters chapter of NSW Young Lawyers and was extensively involved in Minter Ellison’s outreach program in the Australian Business and Community Network, actively mentoring students at James Meehan High School to help them reach their full potential.

In August 2008, Jennifer was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Despite almost continuous and often debilitating treatment for the disease, Jennifer was promoted in 2012 to Senior Associate in recognition of her outstanding work at Minter Ellison and attaining first place in the I.P.A. Insolvency Education Program.

Jennifer passed away on 7 February, 2013.
