Staff at Macquarie University can pay to park on the Wallumattagal Campus using our digital parking management system.
There are two ways to pay for parking on campus:
- virtual permit (vPermit)
- pay as you go (PAYG).
Both options do not require tickets or display permits. We use licence plate recognition technology to identify if parking has been paid.
Please register for just one of the above options.
Consider the following before deciding which will work best for you:
- your budget
- how often you drive to work
- how many hours you intend to park on campus
- the length of your work period.
Both payment types are available to any staff member with a valid Macquarie University OneID. Differences are listed in the comparison table below:
Payment type | Carpark zone | Is salary sacrifice available? |
---|---|---|
PAYG |
| No |
vPermit (under six months) | All carparks, though some require department permission eg MQBS, The Chancellery, Waterloo Road | No |
vPermit (six months or longer) | All carparks, though some require department permission eg MQBS, The Chancellery, Waterloo Road | Yes, via fortnightly deductions |

vPermit
You can purchase a vPermit online via our secure portal. Once registered, your licence plate is proof of payment for the term of the vPermit.
vPermits are available in annual, half-year, 90-day, 60 day and 30-day periods.
To register for a vPermit you will need:
- your Macquarie University staff OneID eg MQ11112222
- your Macquarie University staff email address eg firstname.surname@mq.edu.au
- your credit or debit card details (for vPermits of less than six months)
- your car licence plate number/s. You can register multiple vehicles on an account, but you must select the ‘active’ vehicle on your account. The system does not automatically recognise which car you are driving. Learn how to switch licence plate numbers on vPermit.
Once you have started the registration process you must complete it, or the session will time out and you will have to start again.
