Macquarie University Hearing and Deafness Forum hold hearing screenings for NSW State Members of Parliament to mark World Hearing Day 2020

Macquarie University Hearing in conjunction with Deafness Forum Australia held hearing screenings for NSW State Members of Parliament and their staff, and measured noise levels during Question Time. Results were announced on World Hearing Day at a Parliament House breakfast hosted by NSW Parliamentary Friends of Hearing Health and Deafness.

111 Members of Parliament and staff had their hearing screened by Macquarie University Master of Clinical Audiology students, including the Deputy Premier, Treasurer, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, Leader of the Opposition, as well as Chair of NSW Parliamentary Friends of Hearing Health and Deafness, Ms Felicity Wilson MP.

Macquarie University Professors Catherine McMahon and David McAlpine, and Chair of Deafness Forum, David Brady, spoke with Parliamentarians about hearing health policy and practice and the upcoming WHO World Report on Hearing release.

NSW Parliamentary Friends of Hearing Health and Deafness hosted a breakfast on World Hearing Day where Macquarie University Hearing's Professor Catherine McMahon announced the results of the screenings and spoke  on the need for hearing health to become part of regular health checks, particularly for older Australians.
