Macquarie University Hearing and National Acoustic Laboratories joined forces for the 50th Anniversary of Conception Day – now called RE:Conception, to inform and educate those attending live music venues on how to protect their ears from loud noise.

Macquarie University Master of Clinical Audiology students spoke to attendees about the importance of wearing earplugs, and giving their ears a break from loud music. Free reusable Downbeats earplugs were handed out and the vast majority were very receptive to the message. There was also keen interest from event partners who are regularly present at live music events.

Macquarie University trained audiologists and researchers from NAL placed dosimeters at key locations around the venue to measure noise levels, which have the potential to inform future live music events on campus.
