View allPatrick McNeil is the University’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Medicine and Health), and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Human Sciences, roles that provide leadership of both clinical and academic components of MQ Health – the Macquarie University Health Sciences Centre. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Tasmania, is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians with specialty training in Rheumatology, completed a PhD in immunology at UNSW, and undertook a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School. His previous leadership roles include Associate Dean, Education at UNSW Medicine, Executive Clinical Director at Liverpool Hospital, and Chair of Arthritis Australia.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Medicine and Health) is responsible for overseeing a comprehensive strategy to create Macquarie University’s academic health enterprise – MQ Health. MQ Health is guided by its core purpose: Heal, Learn, Discover and vision to transform healthcare delivery through innovation and integration, to improve lives.

The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences
The Executive Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences provides the academic leadership and strategic direction of the Faculty. This includes overseeing the quality of learning and teaching as well as strategic ambition and development of Faculty research activity.
The Executive Dean is a member of the University Executive and contributes to the management of the wider University, and the achievement of its strategic intent.
