Fees and cost

Macquarie University is committed to making the Macquarie MD accessible to students through a generous scholarship program.

Tuition fees

Students enrolled in the program will either pay Australian tuition fees (domestic students) or international tuition fees. Neither Australian nor international tuition fees are subsidised by the Australian Government. Domestic students may be eligible for FEE-HELP to assist with payment of their tuition fees.

The University's tuition fee for Australian and international fee-paying postgraduate students is subject to annual review, and will increase each year of your period of study.

International

Indicative annual fee – AU$83,700

The indicative 2024 annual fee displayed is based on completing a standard full-time study load. Fees may increase each year. For courses longer than one year in duration, you will pay the fee that is current for the year that you enrol.

MD scholarships

To help students from diverse backgrounds undertake the Macquarie MD, Macquarie University offers a generous annual scholarship program worth up to AU$300,000 to domestic students.

Supporting Entry into University Medicine Program Scholarship

The Supporting Entry into University Medicine Program Scholarship is designed to provide financial support to prospective students from NSW rural communities who are pursuing a career in medicine.

About the scholarship:

The Program aims to support entry-level students that intend to work in rural communities in the future. The Scholarship provides financial support ($1200) to cover registration for a 2024 GAMSAT exam, assist with associated expenses such as travel to the exam and preparation for the exam (e.g., purchasing preparation materials).

Indigenous student scholarships

  • Up to two scholarships worth AU$50,000 each year
  • Awarded to the two highest ranked Indigenous students enrolled in the Doctor of Medicine.
  • No application required.

Macquarie University Bachelor of Clinical Science graduate scholarships

  • Up to five scholarships worth AU$30,000 each year
  • Awarded to the five highest ranked Bachelor of Clinical Science graduates.
  • Ranking is calculated following release of final transcript.
  • No application required.

Medical Leader of the Future scholarship

  • Up to one scholarship worth AU$50,000 each year.
  • Awarded to the highest ranked student entering the Doctor of Medicine each year.
  • No application required.

There is no separate scholarship application. Applicants will be considered based on selection measures for the Macquarie MD. Only one scholarship can be awarded to an applicant. If you are the highest ranked applicant across multiple categories, you will be awarded the scholarship with the highest monetary value.
