MQ health student support fund
Harrison wanted to help others but he needed a little help himself
In 2017 the Macquarie University Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences established the MQ Health Student Support Fund to help students in financial stress.
With the generous support of people like you, the fund helps students with the costs of clinical placements, like travel and accommodation, and essential IT and study costs. With your help we can support more medicine and health science students.
Current Macquarie MD student, Harrison Bygott, knew early on what he wanted to do with his life. He excelled in maths and science at high school, enabling him to complete an accelerated Clinical Science degree. From there the only obstacle to achieving his ambitions of becoming a doctor was the cost involved in completing his studies.
Harrison is now part of our MD Program and is one of the first people in his family to attend university. Without support he would’ve missed the opportunity to do his degree with Macquarie.
Your donation to the MQ Health Student Support Fund will support students just like Harrison and ensure that a competent and diverse medical workforce exists in Australia – because it takes a full range of people to understand and address society’s health needs.
