Manawari – Dharug language that means ‘discover new knowledge’.

This training is designed to motivate and build a positive knowledge position for Macquarie University staff, students, corporate and individuals.

The training is underpinned by the Macquarie University Indigenous Strategy and Reconciliation Statement focusing on creating a better understanding of cultural values, knowledges and perspectives that will lead to greater engagement and social responsibility.

Cultural safety is for everyone. To appreciate culture, you must understand and respect the different cultures and knowledges.
What is Manawari Cultural Safety Training?

The Manawari Cultural Safety Training program, led by Aboriginal presenters, offers an immersive learning experience through a blend of interactive face-to-face sessions and online modules.

This program is designed to deepen your understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, enhancing cultural safety and competence in both professional and personal contexts. Participants will delve into Aboriginal history, cultural practices, and contemporary issues, gaining the knowledge and skills needed to engage respectfully and effectively with Aboriginal communities.

Who Should Enrol?

The Manawari Cultural Safety Training is ideal for anyone external to Macquarie University, including corporate professionals, individuals, community organisations, government agencies, and non-profit groups. The program is flexible and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of each organisation or individual.

Upon completing the program, participants will receive a professional micro-credential badge and certificate, signifying their commitment to cultural competence.

How much does it cost?
  • Individual Rate: $200 per person.
  • Group Discounts: Available for larger groups.

All proceeds from the training are reinvested into Indigenous programs at the University, further supporting the growth and empowerment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This training seeks to give all staff a meaningful understanding and respect for Aboriginal cultural values, histories, beliefs, practices, knowledges and philosophies.

The training is underpinned by the Macquarie University Indigenous Strategy and Reconciliation Statement focusing on creating a better understanding of cultural values, knowledges and perspectives that will lead to greater engagement and social responsibility.

The training consists of three stages:

  1. Pre-workshop online modules
  2. Face-to-face workshop
  3. Survey/Evaluation

Once these stages are completed participants will receive a micro-credential from the University.
