Office of Institutional Advancement

An Overview

Building philanthropic and other financial support through long-term mutually beneficial relationships is integral to Macquarie's vision.

Our new Office of Institutional Advancement has been established to create a world-class advancement function to engage with our alumni and friends, our business and industry partners, and our local, national and international communities. Our goal is to have Macquarie University's Institutional Advancement office, based on the four pillars of community engagement, alumni relations, strategic corporate relationships and philanthropic fundraising, be recognised as the Australian benchmark.

Institutional advancement will implement relationship building and fundraising campaigns across the campus. Through these initiatives we will create a significant new revenue stream for Macquarie. Funds raised will be used for new facilities, research and teaching, professorial chairs, merit scholarships and prizes, and financial aid for students through equity scholarships and grants.

We have also established the Macquarie University Foundation to support our advancement efforts. Chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Maurice Newman AC and former Commonwealth Bank chief, David Murray AO, have been appointed as inaugural Board members and Mr Newman will take the role of Honorary Chair.
