Friday 1st. Jany. 1813 !!! —
This being New Year's day, and also the anniversary of my assuming the Government of this Colony three years ago, I ordered it to be observed as a Holiday throughout the Territory, and that the Troops & Government Artificers and Labourers should receive the usual Donations of Spirits and Fresh Meat. — I received at Noon the Congratulations of the Principal Civil and Military Inhabitants of the Colony; and Congratulatory Addresses were presented to me from the Inhabitants of Sydney, Windsor, Parramatta, and Liverpool! — I entertained the Civil & Military Officers of Government with their Families, the Officers of H.M. Ship Samarang, and other Strangers now at Sydney & the Gentlemen who were deputed to present the Addresses at Dinner today; 48 Persons having sat down at Table! —

Sunday 3d. Jany. 1813 !!!
The Spring Grove, South Sea Whaler, Capt. Douglas, anchored this afternoon in the cove from England, which she left on the 17th. of July last. — A Letter recd. by this conveyance by Mrs. M. from her Sister Margaret mentions my Broyr. Charles having married a young Lady of Fortune at Edinburgh in June last; – but no letters have been recd. from himself. — I have recd. no Public Dispatches – and very few Private Letters, but have had the pleasure to hear that all our Friends at Home were well at the departure of the this Ship. — Capt. Jno. Maclaine has succeeded to the Majority of the 73d. vice Cleaveland deceased. —
