There are a number of Research Centres within and associated with the Department of Ancient History, via which members of the Department and associated researchers pursue a wide range of research projects.

The Macquarie University Ancient Cultures Research Centre is one of only three University Research Centres within the Faculty of Arts, and amalgamates the members and research programs of the Australian Centre for Egyptology and the Ancient History Documentary Research Centre.

The Australian Centre for Numismatic Studies undertakes research in the field of ancient numismatics. The Centre for the History of Christian Thought and Experience conducts research into the origins and continuity of the Christian tradition.
