The Vice-Chancellor welcomed the Hon. Greg Hunt MP to campus last week for a briefing and tour of the Australian Hearing Hub. Mr Hunt is the Federal Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, and visited the University to see how the partnership between the organisations based in and around the Hearing Hub was helping to drive developments in hearing research and treatments.

Professor Dowton hosted a roundtable discussion with the Minister, Federal Member for Bennelong John Alexander OAM, and colleagues from the University, The Shepherd Centre, and Sydney Cochlear Implant Centre before joining a short tour of the facilities, including a demonstration of the Hearing Hub’s anechoic chamber.

Following the Hearing Hub tour, the Minister and his party visited the University’s new student incubator space, where they were joined by members of the Bennelong Forum to discuss opportunities for closer relations between emerging student entrepreneurs and local business and industry.
